Since 1957, Sutherland Music Club has been engaging top-class musicians to present concerts for the community to enjoy at an affordable price.
It’s also an opportunity to share a common interest with other music-lovers. Sutherland Music Club was founded in 1957 by the late Clarice Campbell, a singing teacher with rooms in Paling’s Building in Sydney. Richard Bonning was a student. In 2007, the late Pat Hannan compiled a comprehensive history of the Club’s first 50 years – a wonderful record of SMC but also of life in general. SMC is a not-for-profit organisation under the Federated Music Clubs of Australia with an enthusiastic committee of 15. Once you come along, you won’t want to leave – the late Norma Jean Taylor was a member for almost 60 years and Basil Landos our treasurer for 40 years! Our concerts are open to all members of the public. Although mainly classical, we engage artists in a range of musical genres including classical, music theatre, folk, cabaret and jazz. 
* 5 Sunday afternoon subscription concerts are held annually at Sutherland Arts Theatre (Bookings via Ticketek – see Pavilion Sutherland website). Artists have included Simon Tedeschi, Lurline Chamber Orchestra, Bandaluzia (Flamenco), Emma Pask (Jazz) and many outstanding musicians from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra
* Annual Youth Music Awards (Solo Performance and Composition sections) with current prizes of $7650. YMA began in 1991 and has become recognised across Sydney as an exciting prestigious event *A Heritage Concert as our contribution to the Heritage Festival *In 2025 we have two special non-subscription concerts at Sutherland Uniting Church by artists briefly visiting from Europe – “Campbell Diamond – Classical Guitar” and “Rebecca Hart & Friends - Opera” Please visit our website and Facebook page!
